米国 White House ハリス副大統領、岸田首相との会談

こんにちは、丸山満彦です。

安倍元首相がなくなり、本日27日国葬が行われますね。。。何事についても賛否両論があると思います。ただ、一人の人間が亡くなったということについて、弔意を示すことは当然でしょう。それぞれの関係の中でそれぞれのやり方で。。。もし国を挙げて弔意を示し、葬儀をしたいというのであれば、国民の代表者からなる国会での承認を取れば良かったのかも知れません。

さて、この国葬を捉えて弔問外交という話もありますね。弔意を示す場を政治的に利用するというのは、どうかという話もありますが、これも政治家の葬儀なので、そういうことになるのでしょう。私たち庶民の葬儀でも、規模は違うけれども、似たような話があるかも知れません。

Vice President Kamala Harris today met with Prime Minister Kishida Fumio in Tokyo, Japan. The Vice President conveyed condolences over the assassination of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo and they discussed his legacy in advance of tomorrow’s state funeral, for which the Vice President is leading the U.S. Presidential Delegation. The Vice President praised former Prime Minister Abe as a champion of the U.S.-Japan Alliance and a free and open Indo-Pacific, and affirmed the United States’ commitment to continue building on that legacy.	カマラ・ハリス副大統領は本日、日本の東京で岸田文雄首相と会談した。副大統領は、安倍晋三元首相が暗殺されたことに哀悼の意を表し、副大統領が米国大統領代表団を率いて参列する明日の国葬を前に、その遺志を語り合った。副大統領は、日米同盟と自由で開かれたインド太平洋の擁護者として安倍元首相を称賛し、その遺産を引き続き築いていくという米国のコミットメントを確認した。
The Vice President underscored that the U.S.-Japan Alliance is the cornerstone of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific, and they discussed efforts to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific. The Vice President reaffirmed the United States’ ironclad commitment to Japan’s defense. They discussed the People’s Republic of China’s recent aggressive and irresponsible provocations in the Taiwan Strait, and reaffirmed the importance of preserving peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. The leaders condemned recent ballistic missile launch by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and pledged to work together to address the threats posed by DPRK’s nuclear and ballistic weapons program. They discussed the importance of resolving the issue of Japanese citizens abducted by the DPRK. The Vice President welcomed our growing space cooperation, across commercial, civil, and security sectors, and discussed opportunities to expand our partnership in these areas. The Vice President thanked the Prime Minister for Japan’s leadership on regional and global issues. The Vice President and the Prime Minister reviewed recent developments regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the Vice President recognized the Prime Minister’s decisive action to ensure Russia is held accountable. They emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Latin America. The Vice President underscored the benefits of U.S-Japan-Republic of Korea trilateral cooperation given our shared security concerns and welcomed progress toward closer Japan-Republic of Korea bilateral ties.	副大統領は、地域的・世界的な問題に対する日本のリーダーシップについて、首相に謝意を表明した。副大統領と首相は、ロシアのウクライナ侵攻に関する最近の動向を検討し、副大統領は、ロシアの責任追及を確保するための首相の果断な行動を認識した。両者は、東南アジア、太平洋諸島およびラテンアメリカにおける協力強化の重要性を強調した。副大統領は、安全保障上の懸念を共有する日米韓3カ国協力の利点を強調し、日韓2国間関係の緊密化に向けた前進を歓迎した。

この訪日＋訪韓に先立って記者会見も行われています。。。

訪日の目的は3つと言っていますね。。。

1. 安倍首相の遺産を尊重し、安倍首相暗殺の悲劇を悼む日本国民を支援すること
2. ますます複雑化する安全保障環境において、同盟国に対する米国のコミットメントを再確認すること
3. インド太平洋地域への全体的な関与を深めること

その一方、岸田総理は、国連総会ハイレベル・ウィークで先週訪米していますね。。。

ジョー・バイデン大統領と岸田外相との会談の要旨

President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. met today with Prime Minister Kishida of Japan on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two leaders discussed the importance of advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific, emphasizing the importance of strengthening and modernizing their security alliance. During the meeting, President Biden thanked Prime Minister Kishida for Japan’s historic $1.08 billion pledge to the Global Fund’s Seventh Replenishment.

ジョセフ・R・バイデン大統領は本日、ニューヨークで開催中の国連総会の傍ら、日本の岸田首相と会談した。両首脳は、自由で開かれたインド太平洋を進めることの重要性について議論し、両国の安全保障同盟を強化し、近代化することの重要性を強調した。会談の中でバイデン大統領は、世界基金の第7次増資に対する日本の歴史的な10.8億ドルの拠出誓約について岸田首相に謝意を表明しました。
