米国のシークレットサービスが金融犯罪調査委員会(FCTF)と電子犯罪調査委員会(ECTF)を統合してサイバー不正調査委員会(CFTF)を設立したようですね。

米国連邦政府にシークレットサービスと言う部門があるのは、映画でもおなじみですね。。。大統領とか要人保護をして大活躍、、、って感じですが、シークレットサービスは金融犯罪と闘うと言う面もあります。シークレットサービスのウェブページで調べてたら南北戦争後に偽造通貨が流通してそれを取締るのが当初の任務だったようですね。。。と言うことで国土安全保障省が2003年にできるまでは財務省の管轄だったわけです。。。
さて、そう言うわけで金融犯罪調査委員会(Financial Crimes Task Forces : FCTF)と電子犯罪調査委員会(Electronic Crimes Task Forces : ECTF)があったわけですが、紙幣の流通が減少し、BECやランサムウェアによる脅迫等が増え、金融犯罪=電子犯罪と言うことからでしょうか、両委員会を統一してサイバー不正調査委員会(Cyber Fraud Task Force : CFTF)としたようですね。。。

CFTF's main goal is to investigate and defend American individuals and businesses from a wide range of cyber-enabled financial crimes, from business email compromise (BEC) scams and ransomware attacks to data breaches and the illegal sale of stolen personal information and credit cards on the Internet and the dark web.

The new merged network of task forces, to be known as Cyber Fraud Task Forces (CFTFs), will detect, prevent and root out cyber-enabled financial crimes, such as business email compromise and ransomware scams, “with the ultimate goal of arresting and convicting the most harmful perpetrators,” the Secret Service said in a press release.
The agency hopes the reorganization integrates the resources and know-how in the previous task forces.
“Through the creation of the CFTFs, the Secret Service aims to improve the coordination, sharing of expertise and resources, and dissemination of best practices for all its core investigations of financially-motivated cybercrime,” the Secret Service said.

The Secret Service is creating a new Cyber Fraud Task Force by merging its Electronic Crimes and its Financial Crimes task forces. The service said this two-year planning effort, which included multiple pilot programs, aims to bring together the skills and capabilities of the two disciplines. The Cyber Fraud Task Force currently operates in 42 locations nationwide and two international. The Secret Service plans to expand its cyber fraud task force network to 160 countries in the coming years.
